Instructions for use for VOMEX A syrup, 100 ml
Information about Vomex A syrup
Vomex A syrup is an anti-nausea and vomiting agent that belongs to the group of H1 antihistamines. It is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting of various origins, especially motion sickness. The active ingredient dimenhydrinate blocks histamine receptors in the vomiting center of the brain, thereby suppressing nausea and vomiting. The effects begin within 30 minutes and last up to six hours.
Areas of application
Vomex A syrup is suitable for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting of various origins, especially motion sickness. It is intended for toddlers and children weighing 6 kg or more. The active ingredient dimenhydrinate is not suitable for the sole treatment of nausea and vomiting following drug treatment for cancer (cytostatic therapy). If you don't feel better or feel worse after 14 days, contact your doctor.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The active ingredient in Vomex A syrup is dimenhydrinate. Each milliliter of syrup contains 3.3 mg of dimenhydrinate. The other ingredients are cherry flavor, propylene glycol, glycerol 99%, sucrose and purified water. For diabetics, it should be noted that 100 ml of syrup contains 50 g of sucrose (corresponding to approx. 4.17 bread units).
Contraindications
Vomex A syrup must not be taken if you are allergic to dimenhydrinate, other antihistamines or any of the other ingredients of the medicine. The medicine must also not be used in acute asthma attacks, glaucoma (angle-closure glaucoma), adrenal gland tumor (pheochromocytoma), disorder of blood pigment production (porphyria), enlargement of the prostate gland (prostatic hyperplasia) with residual urine formation and seizures (epilepsy, eclampsia).
Dosage
Always take Vomex A syrup exactly as described or after consulting your doctor or pharmacist. The dosage of dimenhydrinate depends on the patient's body weight. In children, a single dose of the lowest dosage in the respective weight or age group can be enough to relieve symptoms.Daily doses of 5 milligrams per kilogram of body weight should not be exceeded.
The recommended dose for children aged 6 to 14 years is 7.5 - 15 ml of syrup 3 - 4 times daily (corresponding to 25 - 50 mg dimenhydrinate per single dose), but not more than 150 mg dimenhydrinate per day.Small children weighing 6 kg or more should receive 1.25 mg dimenhydrinate per kilogram of body weight 3 - 4 times daily. An overdose of dimenhydrinate can be life-threatening, especially in children under three years of age, and should be avoided.
The following dosage table serves as a guide: Children with a body weight of 6-10 kg receive 2.5 ml of syrup (corresponding to 8.25-33 mg of dimenhydrinate) 3-4 times a day, children with a body weight of 10-15 kg receive 5.0 ml of syrup (corresponding to 16.5-66 mg of dimenhydrinate) 3-4 times a day and children with a body weight of 15-25 kg receive7.5 ml syrup 3-4 times daily (corresponding to 24.75-99 mg dimenhydrinate).
Vomex A syrup is only intended for short-term use.If symptoms persist, a doctor should be consulted. After 2 weeks of treatment at the latest, it should be checked whether further application is necessary.
Intake
