Area of application
D-fluorettes 500 I. E. is a vitamin and mineral preparation that is used for the combined prevention of rickets and tooth decay in infants and children in the first two years of life.The active ingredients colecalciferol (vitamin D3) and sodium fluoride are intended for these purposes.

The tablets contain 5 mg of colecalciferol dry concentrate, equivalent to 500 international units of vitamin D3, and 0.553 mg of sodium fluoride, equivalent to 0.25 mg of fluoride ion.In addition, the preparation contains the following excipients: lactose monohydrate, crospovidone type B, microcrystalline cellulose, talc, magnesium stearate (vegetable), sucrose, RRR-a-tocopherol, medium-chain triglycerides, arabic gum and corn starch.
Contraindications
D-fluorettes 500 IU must not be used if your child is hypersensitive to colecalciferol, sodium fluoride or any of the other ingredients.The preparation should also not be used if the calcium content in the blood is too high, increased calcium excretion in the urine, limited mobility or if there is already sufficient fluoride intake from other sources.
Dosage
From the end of the first week of life, one tablet is given daily to make up an oral solution.This corresponds to 500 IU vitamin D3 and 0.25 mg fluoride.The duration of use is determined by the doctor.No side effects are to be expected from a single overdose.In the event of a slight overdose, the preparation can be discontinued for a few days.In the event of an acute or chronic overdose, treatment should be carried out under medical supervision.
Intake
The tablet is added to the bottle with about 2-3 tablespoons of liquid, allowed to disintegrate and given to the child.Alternatively, the tablet can be dissolved on a teaspoon of liquid and the solution can be placed directly into the child's mouth.It is important that it be taken before a meal.
Patient information
Particular caution is required if your child was born prematurely or underweight, has a tendency to form kidney stones, has sarcoidosis, or is being treated with thiazides.Infants fed a balanced diet do not require additional administration of D-fluorettes 500 IU. If the water used to prepare the food contains more than 0.3 mg fluoride per liter, additional fluoride intake is not necessary.

D-Fluorettes 500 IU is intended for use in children only.
