What is Calcet® 475 mg and what is it used for?

Calcet® 475 mg is a medicine with the active ingredient calcium acetate.It is used to reduce elevated phosphate levels in the blood and is particularly indicated in chronic kidney failure where dialysis is indicated.The active ingredient binds phosphate from food, which is then excreted in the stool.

Dosage and application

Always take Calcet® 475 mg exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The usual adult dose is:

For breakfast: 1-2 film-coated tablets

With a snack: 1-2 film-coated tablets

With the main meal: 2-6 film-coated tablets

For dinner: 2-4 film-coated tablets

The dosage must be adjusted individually, depending on the amount of food consumed and the phosphate content of the meals.The tablets should be swallowed whole during or immediately after a meal and with some liquid.

Storage

Keep Calcet® 475 mg out of the reach and reach of children and do not store it above 30°C.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging.Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater, but take them to the pharmacy for disposal.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is calcium acetate.Each film-coated tablet contains 475 mg calcium acetate.The other ingredients are corn starch, sucrose, gelatin, carboxymethyl starch sodium (type A), croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.), hypromellose, refined castor oil, saccharin sodium, talc, orange flavor.The orange aroma contains bergamot oil.
