Instructions for use: Braunoderm alcoholic skin disinfectant (tinted)

Braunoderm alcoholic skin disinfectant (tinted) is a product for disinfecting the skin prior to various medical procedures such as surgeries, injections, punctures, catheterizations, blood sampling, and vaccinations.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and composition

The solution contains 50% 2-propanol (Ph. Eur.) and 1% povidone-iodine.Other ingredients include purified water, potassium iodide (stabilizer), sodium dihydrogen phosphate, and the colorants E 110, E 124, and E 151.

Indications

Braunoderm (tinted) is used for skin disinfection prior to surgical procedures, injections, punctures, catheterizations, blood sampling, and vaccinations.

Contraindications

Braunoderm (tinted) must not be used in patients with hyperthyroidism, existing thyroid disorders, or dermatitis herpetiformis (Duhring's disease); during or after iodine-based radiation therapy of the thyroid; or in cases of hypersensitivity to iodine, 2-propanol, or other ingredients of the product.

Special precautions

After application, the product must be allowed to dry completely.It is irritating to the eyes and mucous membranes and must not be applied to the eyes or to injured skin and mucous membranes.In the event of accidental contact with the eyes or mucous membranes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.Braunoderm (tinted) is flammable; spills may pose a risk of fire and explosion.

Application

The skin must be kept moist with the undiluted product throughout the entire contact time.Contact times vary depending on skin type and the nature of the procedure.For skin with few sebaceous glands, the contact time is at least 15 seconds prior to injections and punctures, and at least 1 minute prior to surgery.For skin rich in sebaceous glands, the contact time is at least 10 minutes prior to any procedure.

Side effects

Possible side effects include hypersensitivity reactions of the skin, acute immune system reactions, and local skin dryness or irritation caused by the alcohol content.If side effects occur, discontinue use and consult a physician.

Storage

Store the medicinal product at a temperature not exceeding 30°C and keep out of the reach of children.Once opened, the product may be used for 12 months, but not beyond the expiry date.Do not dispose of the product via wastewater or household waste.
