Instructions for use of B12-ASmedic ampoules
B12-ASmedic is an injection solution with the active ingredient cyanocobalamin, a vitamin B12 preparation.This medicine is used for vitamin B12 deficiency that cannot be corrected through diet.No prescription is required for this product.
Areas of application
Vitamin B12 deficiency can manifest itself in various clinical pictures, including blood formation disorders such as hyperchromic macrocytic megaloblastic anemia, also known as perniciosa or Biermer anemia.In addition, such a deficiency can lead to spinal funicular disease, in which the spinal cord is damaged.
A vitamin B12 deficiency confirmed by laboratory diagnosis can occur after years of malnutrition and malnutrition, for example due to a strict vegetarian diet. Malabsorption, i.e. insufficient absorption of vitamin B12 in the intestine, can also have various causes.These include insufficient production of intrinsic factor, diseases in the end section of the ileum, fish tapeworm infestation or blind loop syndrome after stomach surgery.In addition, congenital vitamin B12 transport disorders may play a role.
Contraindications
B12-ASmedic must not be used if you are hypersensitive to any of the components of the medicine.
Take special care
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the recommended daily vitamin B12 intake is 4 µg.According to previous experience, higher application quantities have no adverse effects on the unborn child.Vitamin B12 is excreted in breast milk.
There are no known impairments in road traffic or when working with machines or when working without a secure footing.Only give B12-ASmedic to children and young people after consulting a doctor, as there is not yet sufficient experience to make a general recommendation in this age group.
Interactions
To date, there are no known interactions with other medicines.However, due to the instability of vitamin B12, a loss of effectiveness of the vitamin can occur when other drugs are added.
Dosage instructions, type and duration of application
At the start of treatment, 1 ml of B12-ASmedic is administered twice a week in the first few weeks after diagnosis, corresponding to 1000 µg cyanocobalamin or 1 ampoule of B12-ASmedic.If there is evidence of a vitamin B12 absorption disorder in the intestine, 100 µg cyanocobalamin is then administered once a month.
B12-ASmedic is usually administered intramuscularly, but can also be given slowly intravenously or subcutaneously.The duration of use depends on the type of symptoms and the course of the disease.B12-ASmedic is intended for long-term use.
Side effects
Like all medicines, B12-ASmedic can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.In individual cases, skin symptoms such as acne and eczematous and urticarial drug reactions have been observed.Hypersensitivity reactions such as anaphylactic or anaphylactoid reactions can also occur.
Durability and storage
The expiry date of this pack is printed on the ampoules and folding box.Do not use this pack after this date.Opened ampoules should be injected immediately.B12-ASmedic should be protected from light and not stored above 25°C.Always ensure that the medicine is out of the reach of children.
Composition
1 Ampoule with 1 ml injection solution contains 1 mg cyanocobalamin as a medicinally active ingredient.Other ingredients include sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate and water for injections.
