Active ingredient and composition

Helixor M contains an extract of fresh apple tree mistletoe (Viscum album ssp. album) in a ratio of 1:20.The amount of fresh plant used to make one ampoule is given in mg.Water for injections and sodium chloride (99.91: 0.09) are used as extractants.The other ingredients are sodium hydroxide and water for injections.

Areas of application

Helixor M is used in accordance with anthroposophical knowledge of humanity and nature.In adults, this includes the treatment of malignant and benign tumor diseases, malignant diseases of the hematopoietic organs, defined precancerous lesions and the prevention of relapses after tumor operations.

Application and dosage

Helixor M is administered as a subcutaneous injection, if possible close to the tumor or metastases.The usual dosage is 2 to 3 injections per week.Therapy begins with an introductory phase in which the dose is gradually increased.The optimal dose is determined individually and depends on the patient's reactions, such as changes in subjective well-being, temperature reactions, immunological reactions and local inflammatory reactions at the injection site.

Side effects

Possible side effects include a slight increase in body temperature, localized inflammatory reactions around the injection site, and temporary mild swelling of regional lymph nodes.If there is a fever over 38 °C or major local reactions over 5 cm in diameter, the next injection should only be given after these symptoms have subsided and at a reduced strength or dose.Allergic reactions are possible and require discontinuation of the preparation and immediate medical treatment.

Storage

Helixor M should be kept out of the reach of children and stored in the refrigerator.The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the ampoule and box.The ampoules should be stored in the original packaging to protect the contents from light.
