Helixor® is an anthroposophic medicine that is used for the extended treatment of tumor diseases.It contains extracts from fresh mistletoe, with Helixor® A made from pine mistletoe, Helixor® M from apple tree mistletoe and Helixor® P from pine mistletoe.The solution for injection is prepared with water for injections and sodium chloride as an extractant.

Areas of application according to the anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature include malignant and benign tumor diseases, accompanying disorders of the hematopoietic organs, defined precancerous lesions and the prevention of relapses after tumor operations.

Active ingredients and composition

Helixor® is available in different strengths, which indicate the amount of fresh plant material used to make one ampoule.The available strengths are 0.01 mg, 0.1 mg, 1 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg, 30 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg.Each ampoule contains an extract of fresh mistletoe (1:20) and extractants such as water for injections and sodium chloride.

Application and dosage

Helixor® is administered by subcutaneous injection, preferably close to the tumor or in different areas of the intact skin.The usual dose is 2-3 injections per week.Therapy begins with an induction phase in which the dose is gradually increased until maintenance therapy is achieved.The optimal dose is determined individually and can be adjusted depending on the patient's reaction.

During treatment, local inflammatory reactions, temperature reactions and immunological reactions should be monitored.In case of excessive reactions, the dose should be reduced or use temporarily discontinued.

Side effects and precautions

Possible side effects include local inflammatory reactions at the injection site, fever, flu-like symptoms and allergic reactions.If you have a fever over 38°C or major local reactions, the next injection should only be given after these symptoms have subsided and in a reduced dose.

Helixor® must not be used in case of hypersensitivity to mistletoe preparations, acute inflammatory or high fever diseases, chronic granulomatous diseases, autoimmune diseases with severe symptoms, under immunosuppressive treatment or in case of hyperthyroidism with palpitations.

Storage

Helixor® should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used after the expiry date.The ampoules should be stored in the original packaging and protected from light.Helixor® 0.01 mg - 0.1 mg should be stored in a refrigerator, while Helixor® 1 mg - 100 mg should not be stored above 30 °C.
