Instructions for use for Cartilago Comp.ointment

Cartilago comp., Unguentum is an anthroposophic medicine that is used for inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system.It serves to harmonize the build-up and breakdown forces, especially in degenerative and chronic inflammatory joint diseases such as chronic joint deformation (arthrosis deformans) and chronic joint inflammation (chronic arthritis).

No prescription is required for this product.

Contraindications

Cartilago comp., Unguentum must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to birch pollen, onions, peanuts or soy or any of the other ingredients.The ointment is also not suitable for children under 12 years of age.

Precautions and warnings

In the case of acute conditions with redness, swelling or overheating of joints as well as persistent, unclear or new symptoms, you should consult a doctor.It should not be used in young people aged 12 to under 18 years without medical advice and does not replace other medicines prescribed by a doctor.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Like all medicines, Cartilago comp., Unguentum should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consulting a doctor.Wool wax can cause localized skin irritation.

Interactions

To date, there are no known interactions with other medications.

Dosage and method of administration

Unless otherwise prescribed, the following applies to adults and young people aged 12 and over: the affected joints are rubbed once or twice a day, depending on their size or their surroundings.An approximately 2 cm long strand of ointment is used for the large joints (e.g. knee, hip, ankle joints) and an approximately 1/2 cm long strand of ointment is used for the small joints (e.g. finger, toe joints).

Duration of application

Treatment of an acute illness should be completed after 2 weeks.If there is no improvement within 2-5 days, see a doctor.The duration of treatment for chronic diseases requires consultation with the doctor.

Side effects

Peanut oil can rarely cause severe allergic reactions.

Composition

10 g of the ointment contains the following active ingredients: Allium cepa ferm 34a Dil.D1 0.1 g, Aurum metallicum Dil.D8 0.1 g, Betula pendula ferm 34e Dil.D1 0.1 g, Cartilago articularis bovis Gl Dil.D3 (HAB, Vs. 41b) 0.1 g, Formica rufa ex animale toto Gl Dil.D3 (HAB, Vs. 41c) 0.1 g, Stannum metallicum Dil.D6 0.1g.The active ingredients 1 to 3 and 6 are potentiated together over one stage.

Other ingredients include refined peanut oil, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, white petroleum jelly, purified water and wool wax.

Storage and shelf life

Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the container and the outer packaging.Do not store/keep above 30 °C!Stable for 16 weeks after opening.
