Product description

Kodan tincture forte colored is a ready-to-use skin antiseptic that is based on propanol and is used for skin disinfection.It is listed VAH/DGHM-and is suitable for preoperative use as well as before blood samples and injections.The product is characterized by a broad spectrum of antiseptic effects, a quick onset of action and very good skin tolerance.

Areas of application

Kodan tincture forte colored is used for skin disinfection before surgical procedures, catheterizations, blood and liquor collections, injections, punctures, excisions, cannulations, biopsies and for suture care.It also supports general hygienic measures to prevent fungal skin diseases.

Active ingredients and composition

The medicinally active ingredients of Kodan tincture forte colored are 45.0 g 2-propanol (Ph.Eur.), 10.0 g 1-propanol (Ph.Eur.) and 0.20 g biphenyl-2-ol per 100 g of solution.Other ingredients include quinoline yellow, yellow orange S, brilliant black BN, hydrogen peroxide solution 30% (Ph.Eur.) and purified water.

Application

Kodan tincture forte colored is sprayed directly onto the skin and should be left on for at least 15 seconds before punctures and injections.It should be left on for at least 1 minute before surgical procedures.For skin rich in sebaceous glands, it should be applied repeatedly and left to act for 2 minutes.In case of contamination with mycobacteria, it should be applied twice.

Side effects

Skin irritations such as redness, burning and dryness can occur, especially with frequent use.In rare cases, contact allergic reactions are possible.If other side effects occur, please contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Warnings and precautions

Kodan tincture forte colored is intended exclusively for external use.It should not be brought into contact with open flames or switched on electrical heat sources.The product should be allowed to dry before applying bandages.Thermocautery should only be used once the disinfected skin areas have dried.If you accidentally come into contact with your eyes, you should immediately rinse with plenty of water while keeping your eyelids open for several minutes.

Contraindications

Kodan tincture forte colored must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients.It should not be used in newborns and premature babies.

Storage

Keep medicines out of the reach of children.After opening the medicine, do not use it for longer than 12 months, but not beyond the expiry date stated on the packaging.No special storage conditions are required.
