H&S St. John's wort: H&S St. John's wort is a herbal medicinal product used to support the treatment of nervous restlessness and sleep disorders. It contains St. John's wort Hyperici herba as the medicinally active ingredient. The medicinal product is available in the form of tea. To take it, 1 to 2 glasses/cups of tea should be drunk twice a day. The tea is prepared by pouring boiling water over a filter bag and should steep for about 10 minutes. The duration of use is usually required over several weeks or months to achieve an effect. H&S St. John's wort can weaken the effectiveness of anticoagulants, digoxin, theophylline and some antidepressants. Intensive UV-irradiation should be avoided during use. The drug is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Side effects may include increased photosensitivity of the skin, gastrointestinal complaints, allergic reactions, fatigue or restlessness. The product should not be used in case of known hypersensitivity to ingredients or photosensitivity. It should be stored away from moisture and light and inaccessible to children.
