Lopacut 2 mg film-coated tablets - for acute diarrhea

Lopacut is used for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in adults and adolescents aged 12 and over if no causal therapy is available.The active ingredient in Lopacut is loperamide hydrochloride.No prescription is required for this product.

Lopacut is not suitable for children under 12 years.Treatment that lasts longer than two days may only be carried out under medical supervision.

Each film-coated tablet contains 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride, which corresponds to 1.86 mg of loperamide.The other components include:

Microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, macrogol, magnesium stearate, pregelatinized corn starch, polydextrose, colloidal silica and titanium dioxide.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to loperamide or any of the other ingredients.It should also not be used if there are bloody stools or diarrhea with a high fever.

Use is also contraindicated in cases of inflammation of the colon such as ulcerative colitis or pseudomembranous colitis after taking antibiotics.The same applies to intestinal inflammation caused by organisms such as Salmonella, Shigella and Campylobacter.

The medicine should not be taken if the passage of food through the intestine is already slowed down, for example if you have constipation or a bloated stomach.It is also not suitable for chronic diarrhea.

Dosage

Use in adults and adolescents over 12 years: First 2 tablets, then 1 tablet after each loose stool, but not earlier than 2-3 hours after the initial dose.The maximum daily dose is 6 tablets (maximum 12 mg) for adults and 4 tablets (maximum 8 mg) for adolescents.You should not take the medicine for longer than 2 days without consulting a doctor.

If you take more than you should, see a doctor or go to a hospital immediately.Possible symptoms of overdose include increased heart rate, irregular heartbeat, muscle stiffness, uncoordinated movements, drowsiness, difficulty urinating, or weak breathing.Children react more strongly to large amounts of the drug than adults.
