Imodium acute lingual orodispersible tablets are a means for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in adolescents aged 12 and over and adults if no causal therapy is available.The product is available without a prescription.

The orodispersible tablets contain the active ingredient loperamide hydrochloride in a dosage of 2 mg per tablet.The following excipients are also included: gelatin, mannitol, aspartame, sodium bicarbonate, peppermint flavor (contains maltodextrin and levomenthol), benzyl alcohol and phenylalanine.

Contraindications

Dosage

The recommended dose for adults is 2 orodispersible tablets initially, followed by 1 orodispersible tablet after each unformed stool.The maximum daily dose is 6 orodispersible tablets.Adolescents aged 12 years and over should take 1 orodispersible tablet initially, followed by 1 orodispersible tablet after each unformed stool, but not more than 4 orodispersible tablets per day.The medicine should not be taken for longer than 2 days without medical advice.

Intake

The orodispersible tablet is placed on the tongue and melts there immediately.It is swallowed with saliva and no further fluid intake is required.
