Imodium acute lingual is a medication for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea in adults and adolescents aged 12 and over, provided no causal therapy is available.The active ingredient loperamide hydrochloride helps to slow down intestinal movements and thus reduce the urge to defecate.No prescription is required for this product.

In addition to the active ingredient loperamide hydrochloride, the orodispersible tablets also contain excipients such as beef gelatin, mannitol, aspartame, phenylalanine, sodium bicarbonate, peppermint aroma, levomenthol and benzyl alcohol.It is important to note that the product contains aspartame and phenylalanine, which may be harmful to patients with phenylketonuria.

Application and dosage

The orodispersible tablets are placed on the tongue and melt there almost immediately.They do not have to be taken with water.The recommended dosage for adults is 2 tablets initially, followed by 1 tablet after each unformed stool, but not more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.Adolescents aged 12 and over should initially take 1 tablet and a maximum of 4 tablets per day.
