Instructions for use for CALCIUMACETAT NEFRO 950 mg film-coated tablets, 200 pcs

Information for use with the article Calcium acetate Nefro 950 mg film-coated tablets: Calcium acetate Nefro 950 mg is a mineral preparation used to bind phosphate contained in food. This reduces the amount of phosphate that is absorbed into the body. It is used in patients with severe kidney disease on dialysis to treat and prevent elevated phosphate levels. The recommended dose for adults is 1-2 film-coated tablets twice daily, taken unchewed with some liquid at mealtimes. The dosage depends on the level of phosphate concentration in the blood and should be checked regularly. If necessary, the dosage can be increased gradually; the usual dose is 2 to 4 film-coated tablets twice a day. Treatment with calcium acetate Nefro 950 mg is a long-term therapy and requires regular medical monitoring. Use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age is not recommended, as insufficient data are available. Calcium acetate Nefro 950 mg should not be taken if there is an increased concentration of calcium in the blood (hypercalcaemia) or if you are allergic to calcium acetate or any of the other ingredients. It is important to take the film-coated tablets only with meals so that they can work optimally. When taking calcium acetate, regular blood tests should be performed to monitor phosphate and calcium levels. Interactions with other medicines should be discussed with a doctor. Calcium acetate does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, but attention should be paid to signs of increased calcium levels. During pregnancy and lactation, calcium acetate should only be taken on the express instructions of the attending physician and with regular monitoring of serum calcium levels. It is important to read the package leaflet and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions. Regular blood tests are recommended.
