This reduces the amount of phosphate that is absorbed into the body. It is used in patients with severe kidney disease on dialysis to treat and prevent elevated phosphate levels. The recommended dose for adults is 1-2 film-coated tablets twice daily, taken unchewed with some liquid at mealtimes. The dosage depends on the level of phosphate concentration in the blood and should be checked regularly. If necessary, the dosage can be increased gradually; the usual dose is 2 to 4 film-coated tablets twice a day. Treatment with calcium acetate Nefro 950 mg is a long-term therapy and requires regular medical monitoring.
