Product features

Mepilex Lite is a highly customizable foam dressing made from soft silicone.It absorbs exudate, maintains a moist wound environment and minimizes the risk of maceration.The dressing features a Safetac wound contact layer that reduces patient pain and trauma to wounds and surrounding skin when removing the dressing.

Mepilex Lite consists of a wound contact layer made of soft silicone (Safetac), a thin, flexible absorbent wound dressing made of polyurethane foam and an outer polyurethane film that is breathable but waterproof.The components of the dressing material are silicone and polyurethane.

Scope of application

Mepilex Lite is designed to treat a variety of non- to low-exuding wounds, including leg and foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, second degree burns, skin reactions to radiation and epidermolysis bullosa.The bandage can also be used to protect damaged and/or sensitive skin.

Mepilex Lite can also be used by laypeople under the supervision of a medical professional.The application takes place in the following steps:

Clean the wound according to clinical practice.Dry the skin surrounding the wound carefully.Choose an appropriate dressing size that covers the dry skin surrounding the wound by at least 1 - 2 cm for small sizes and 3 - 5 cm for large sizes.The dressing can be adapted to different wound shapes and locations.

Remove the first protective film and place the adhesive side on the wound.Remove the remaining protective film and smooth the bandage onto the skin.Do not stretch the bandage.If necessary, secure the bandage with a bandage or other restraint.

The dressing change interval can be several days.Change the dressing before it is fully saturated, if there is evidence of leakage, or according to clinical practice.Mepilex Lite can be used under compression bandages and in combination with gels.Disposal must be carried out in accordance with local environmental regulations.

Precautions

Do not use the dressing on patients with known hypersensitivity to the dressing or its materials.Do not use the dressing with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide.

If you see signs of clinical infection, such as fever or if the wound or surrounding skin becomes red, warm or swollen, contact a healthcare professional for appropriate treatment.Do not reuse the bandage.If reused, product performance may be impaired and contamination transfer may occur.

The bandage is sterile.Do not use if the sterile barrier is damaged or opened before use.Do not re-sterilize the dressing.

Warnings

The polyurethane foam used in the product may turn yellowish when exposed to light, air and/or heat.The color change does not affect the product properties if the product is used before the expiry date.
