Mepilex Lite is a highly customizable, soft silicone foam dressing specifically designed for the treatment of non- to low-exuding wounds.The dressing absorbs exudate, maintains a moist wound environment and minimizes the risk of maceration.Thanks to the Safetac wound contact layer, a unique adhesive technology, patient pain and trauma to wounds and the surrounding skin are reduced when removing the dressing.

Mepilex Lite consists of a wound contact layer made of soft silicone (Safetac), a thin, flexible absorbent wound dressing made of polyurethane foam and an outer polyurethane film that is breathable but waterproof.The components of the dressing material are silicone and polyurethane.

The dressing is suitable for the treatment of leg and foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, second degree burns, skin reactions to radiation and epidermolysis bullosa.Mepilex Lite can also be used as protection for damaged and/or sensitive skin.

Application

Mepilex Lite can also be used by laypeople under the supervision of a medical professional.The application takes place in several steps:

First, the wound is cleaned according to clinical practice and the skin surrounding the wound is carefully dried.A suitable bandage size is then selected, which should cover the dry skin surrounding the wound by at least 1 - 2 cm for small sizes and 3 - 5 cm for large sizes.If necessary, the dressing can be adapted to different wound shapes and locations.

The first protective film is removed and the adhesive side is placed on the wound.The remaining protective film is then removed and the bandage is smoothed onto the skin without stretching it.If necessary, the bandage can be fixed with a bandage or other fixation.

The dressing change interval can be several days.The dressing should be changed before it is fully saturated, if there is evidence of leakage, or according to clinical practice.Mepilex Lite can be used under compression bandages and in combination with gels.Disposal must be carried out in accordance with local environmental regulations.

Precautions

Mepilex Lite should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to the dressing or its materials.The dressing must not be used together with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide.

If signs of clinical infection such as fever or redness, warmth or swelling of the wound or surrounding skin occur, a healthcare professional should be consulted to receive appropriate treatment.

The dressing must not be reused as this may affect the performance of the product and lead to contamination transfer.Mepilex Lite is sterile and must not be used if the sterile barrier is damaged or opened before use.Re-sterilization is not permitted.
