Instructions for use of Bepanthen wound and healing ointment

Bepanthen wound and healing ointment contains the active ingredient dexpanthenol.This product is available without a prescription.

Areas of application

The ointment is used to support healing of superficial, minor skin and mucous membrane damage.It is suitable for small wounds, cuts, scratches and abrasions as well as for scaly and cracked areas of skin that often occur in winter.

Mode of action

Dexpanthenol, the active ingredient in Bepanthen wound and healing ointment, is structurally related to pantothenic acid, a vitamin that is involved in important metabolic processes in the body.Damaged skin lacks pantothenic acid.Dexpanthenol is converted into pantothenic acid in the body and compensates for the deficiency, allowing the wound to heal faster.The ointment forms a breathable film on the skin that protects against drying out.

Ingredients

In addition to the active ingredient dexpanthenol, the ointment contains the following excipients: bleached wax, thick paraffin, thin paraffin, white petroleum jelly, ceresin, glycerol monooleate (vegetable), wool wax alcohols (Protegin X), cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, wool wax, almond oil and purified water.

Application

Apply the ointment thinly to the affected skin areas one to several times a day.Application should be continued until the wound heals.The ointment can also be used on dry, flaky, cracked areas of skin over several nights to protect the skin from drying out.

Special Notes

If injuries are contaminated, you should first clean the wound with clear water and, if necessary, disinfect it with an antiseptic wound cream.The product can be used for three months after opening.
