UrgoTül Ag/Silver is a silver-impregnated lipidocolloid dressing based on lipidocolloid technology (TLC).This technology was developed by Laboratoires URGO .The dressing consists of a polyester mesh impregnated with hydrocolloid particles (carboxymethylcellulose), petrolatum, cohesive polymers, and silver salt.UrgoTül Ag/Silver is non-adherent, non-occlusive, and does not stick to the wound.

Upon contact with wound exudate, the hydrocolloid particles (CMC) gel, forming a lipidocolloid film on the wound.This results in the following properties: maintenance of a moist wound environment, which promotes healing; gel formation on the wound; atraumatic removal to protect newly formed tissue; painless dressing changes for the patient; and protection of the surrounding skin.

The silver ions (Ag+) contained in the TLC-Ag wound healing matrix give UrgoTül Ag/Silver antibacterial efficacy, which is able to reduce local bacterial colonization.Silver is characterized by a broad antimicrobial spectrum of activity, including against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, as well as certain fungi and yeasts.It is particularly effective against Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Bacillus pyocyaneus), which are most commonly responsible for infected wounds.The antibacterial efficacy of the dressing has been demonstrated in vitro for a period of 7 days.The antibacterial efficacy of the dressing also helps to reduce odor.

Instructions for Use

The wound should be cleaned with physiological saline solution.If an antiseptic was used previously, thoroughly rinse the wound with physiological saline solution.UrgoTül Ag/Silver can be cut to size using sterile material to fit the wound.Remove the protective films from the dressing and apply UrgoTül Ag/Silver directly to the wound.Cover UrgoTül Ag/Silver with a secondary dressing (a sterile compress suitable for absorbing exudate, secured with a bandage).Apply a compression bandage if prescribed.UrgoTül Ag/Silver should be changed every 1 to 3 days, depending on the wound being treated and its clinical progress.The maximum duration of treatment with UrgoTül Ag/Silver is one month.

Indications

UrgoTül Ag/Silver is suitable for the local treatment of wounds with a risk of or signs of local infection: chronic wounds (leg ulcers, pressure ulcers) and acute wounds (second-degree burns, abrasions, traumatic wounds, surgical wounds, etc.).Since the dressing is non-adherent, UrgoTül Ag/Silver is recommended for the treatment of wounds with sensitive surrounding tissue.

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to silver and other components of the dressing.Do not use on patients undergoing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Precautions

Treatment with UrgoTül Ag/Silver should only be carried out under medical supervision.The use of this dressing does not preclude the need for appropriate systemic antibacterial treatment of infected wounds in accordance with local care protocols.UrgoTül Ag/Silver may adhere to surgical latex gloves.It is therefore recommended to moisten them with physiological saline solution to facilitate handling of UrgoTül Ag/Silver.Combined use with other topical treatments is not recommended.Since no specific clinical data are available, the use of UrgoTül Ag/Silver during pregnancy, breastfeeding, in newborns, and in premature infants is not recommended.Healthcare professionals must be aware that data on the long-term and repeated use of a silver-containing dressing, particularly in children or newborns, are very limited.Avoid contact of the dressing with electrodes or conductive gels during examinations using electronic devices, EEG and ECG, etc. Do not use in a hyperbaric chamber.Sterile single-use packaging: Reusing a single-use dressing may pose a risk of infection.Check the integrity of the sterile single-use packaging before use.Do not use if the sterile single-use packaging is damaged.Do not resterilize.
