UrgoTül Ag/Silver is a wound dressing soaked in silver salt and based on lipid colloid technology (TLC).This technology was developed by Laboratoires URGO .The wound dressing consists of a polyester mesh soaked with hydrocolloid particles (carboxymethyl cellulose), petroleum jelly, cohesive polymers and silver salt.UrgoTül Ag/Silver is non-adhesive, non-occlusive and does not stick to the wound.

In contact with the wound exudates, the hydrocolloid particles (CMC) gel and form a lipidocolloid film that is in direct contact with the wound.This creates the following specific properties: maintenance of a moist wound environment that promotes healing, gel formation in contact with the wound, atraumatic detachment to protect the newly formed tissue, painless dressing changes for the patient and protection of the wound environment.

The silver ions (Ag+) contained in the TLC-Ag wound healing matrix give UrgoTül Ag/Silver antibacterial effectiveness, which can reduce local bacterial colonization.Silver has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity that includes gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria as well as certain fungi and yeasts.It is particularly effective against Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, Streptococcus pyogenes and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Bacillus pyocyaneus), which are often responsible for infected wounds.The antibacterial effectiveness of the wound dressing was demonstrated in vitro over a period of 7 days.In addition, the antibacterial effectiveness helps to reduce the odor.

Application instructions

The wound should first be cleaned with physiological saline solution.If an antiseptic was previously used, the wound should be thoroughly rinsed with physiological saline solution.UrgoTül Ag/Silver can be cut with sterile material to adjust the size of the dressing to the wound.The protective films must be removed from the wound dressing and UrgoTül Ag/Silver applied directly to the wound.The wound dressing should then be covered with a secondary dressing (sterile compress suitable for absorbing exudate and held in place with a fixing bandage).A compression bandage should be applied if prescribed.UrgoTül Ag/Silver should be changed every 1 to 3 days, depending on the wound being treated and its clinical course.The maximum treatment duration with UrgoTül Ag/Silver is one month.

Indications

UrgoTül Ag/Silver is suitable for the local treatment of wounds with risk or signs of local infection.This includes chronic wounds such as leg ulcers and pressure sores, as well as acute wounds such as second-degree burns, skin abrasions, traumatic wounds and surgical wounds.Due to the non-adhesive properties of the wound dressing, UrgoTül Ag/Silver is also recommended for the treatment of wounds with a sensitive wound environment.

Contraindications

UrgoTül Ag/Silver must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to silver and other components of the wound dressing.In addition, the wound dressing should not be used on patients who are being examined with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Precautions

Treatment with UrgoTül Ag/Silver should only be carried out under medical supervision.The use of the wound dressing does not preclude the need for appropriate systemic antibacterial treatment of infected wounds in accordance with local care protocols.UrgoTül Ag/Silver can stick to surgical latex gloves, so it is recommended to moisten them with physiological saline for easier handling.Combined use with other local treatments is not recommended.Since there are no specific clinical data, the use of UrgoTül Ag/Silver is not recommended during pregnancy, breastfeeding, newborns and premature babies.Healthcare professionals must take into account that data on long-term and repeated use of a wound dressing containing silver, particularly in children or newborns, are very limited.Contact of the wound dressing with electrodes or conductive gels during examinations with electronic devices, EEG and ECG, should be avoided.UrgoTül Ag/Silver must not be used in a hyperbaric chamber.The sterile individual packaging is for single use only and should not be re-sterilized.Before use, the integrity of the sterile individual packaging must be checked.Damaged packaging must not be used.
