Instructions for use of the article UrgoTül Silver wound gauze 5 cm x 5 cm: UrgoTül Silver is a lipid colloid wound dressing impregnated with silver salt. It is based on lipid colloid technology (TLC) and consists of a polyester mesh impregnated with hydrocolloid particles (carboxymethyl cellulose), petrolatum, cohesive polymers and silver salt. The dressing forms a lipid-colloid film in contact with the wound exudates. This film provides a moist wound environment, supports healing, forms gel in the wound and protects the newly formed tissue. The dressing is non-adherent, non-occlusive and does not stick to the wound. The silver ions (Ag+) contained in the wound healing matrix have an antibacterial effect and can reduce local bacterial colonisation. Silver is effective against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, fungi and yeasts. It is particularly effective against Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, Streptococcus pyogenes and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The antibacterial efficacy of the wound dressing has been proven in vitro over a period of 7 days. It also helps to reduce the odour caused by microorganisms in the wound. UrgoTül Silver is suitable for the local treatment of wounds with signs of infection, including chronic wounds such as lower leg ulcers and pressure ulcers, as well as acute wounds such as burns, skin abrasions, traumatic wounds and surgical wounds. The dressing is recommended for wounds with a sensitive environment. Contraindicated for use in cases of known hypersensitivity to silver and other components of the dressing and in patients undergoing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
