Recessan is a product containing the active ingredient polidocanol, which provides rapid pain relief that lasts up to two hours.The ointment is characterized by its good adhesive properties on the moist oral mucosa, which are achieved through a special patented composition of the ointment base.Recessan has a pleasant menthol-like taste.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Recessan is used for the temporary, symptomatic treatment of painful inflammatory diseases of the gums, oral mucosa and lips.

Active ingredients and ingredients

1 Gram of the ointment contains polidocanol as a medicinally active ingredient in an amount of 30 milligrams.The ointment also contains the following excipients: aluminum trilactate, anise oil, benzalkonium chloride, bitter fennel oil, levomenthol, sodium alginate, paraffin in thick form, saccharin as sodium salt, sage oil, silicon dioxide in highly disperse form, thymol, titanium dioxide and Vaseline in white color.

Application

Apply the ointment lightly in an amount about the size of a pea three times a day to the painful, tender and inflamed areas in the oral cavity.Do not rub the ointment.For dentures, apply the ointment to the cleaned and still wet denture or immediate denture.The use of additional adhesive is not necessary and should be avoided.After application, you should not eat or drink anything for one hour as the preparation forms an adhesive film that could otherwise be removed prematurely.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to lauromacrogol 400 (polidocanol) or any of the other ingredients.

Dosage

Use a pea-sized piece of the ointment three times a day.If you have any further questions about using the medicine, contact your dentist, doctor or pharmacist.

Patient information

There are no special requirements regarding the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

To date, there is no evidence of a germ-damaging effect or danger to infants from the drug.However, since controlled studies are not available, administration to pregnant and breastfeeding women should only be carried out after particularly careful consideration of the benefits and risks.There are no sufficient data on the use of the drug in pregnant and breastfeeding women.If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, do not use this medicine unless clearly necessary.
