Summary: Eicosapen capsules contain omega-3 acid rich fish oil and are used to treat severely elevated triglyceride levels in the blood. The capsules should be taken unchewed with liquid before meals. The dosage for adults is 5-7 capsules twice daily. An overdose may cause nausea and discomfort. Side effects may include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and belching. The medicine should not be taken if there is an allergy to fish oil rich in omega-3 acids or if certain conditions such as pancreatitis or liver disease are present. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use. Use of the medicinal product is not recommended in children under 12 years of age. Storage should be at room temperature and the expiry date should be observed. Eicosapen capsules may possibly prolong bleeding time and inhibit platelet formation.
