Nystaderm®-S Suspension is a medicine used to treat fungal infections of the skin and mucous membranes.The active ingredient nystatin works against yeast fungi by damaging their cell membrane.This leads to the fungi being inhibited in their growth or killed.The product is particularly effective for infections of the oral cavity, pharynx and esophagus, as well as for the topical treatment of yeast infections of the gastrointestinal tract, especially in children and infants.No prescription is required for this product.

Areas of application

Nystaderm®-S Suspension is used for nystatin-sensitive infections of the oral cavity, pharynx and esophagus.It can also be used for the topical treatment of yeast infections of the gastrointestinal tract and for colonization prophylaxis of the gastrointestinal tract, especially in children and infants.If you do not feel better or feel worse after 7 days, contact your doctor.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Nystaderm®-S Suspension contains the active ingredient nystatin.One milliliter of the suspension contains 100,000 IU of nystatin.The other ingredients include methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (parabens: E 216, E 218), glycerol 85%, colloidal silicon dioxide, sucrose, raspberry flavor (contains, among other things, cinnamaldehyde, propylene glycol, geraniol, citronellol, linalool and ethanol) and purified water.

Contraindications

This medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to nystatin, a related active ingredient such as amphotericin B or natamycin, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.In addition, it must not be used to treat systemic fungal infections.

Dosage

The recommended dose for children from two years of age and adults, depending on the severity of the disease, is 0.5 to 1.5 milliliters of suspension four times a day after meals.Newborns and small children receive 0.5 to 1 milliliter of suspension four times daily.For colonization prophylaxis of the gastrointestinal tract, the dose is 150,000 IU three to four times daily in newborns and small children and 500,000 IU at least four times daily in adults with risk factors.For oral thrush, the medicine should be dripped into the mouth after meals and spread in the mouth for at least a minute to ensure good wetting of the entire oral cavity.

Application

The suspension is applied in the oral cavity and taken orally.The bottle should be shaken vigorously before use.The suspension can be drawn up with the pipette to the desired marking line (0.5 or 1 milliliter) or removed with the dosing pump.The suspension is placed in the oral cavity and left in the mouth for a few minutes before swallowing.For oral thrush, treatment should be continued for two to three days after the visible signs of the disease have disappeared.For yeast infections of the gastrointestinal tract, treatment should usually be carried out for two weeks.

Notes

The product contains parabens E 216/E 218 and sucrose (sugar).It also contains a flavor with cinnamaldehyde, propylene glycol, geraniol, citronellol, linalool and ethanol.The alcohol content is 0.0001 milligrams per gram, equivalent to 0.0002 milligrams per milliliter.Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack.
