Description of the drug

This medicine is a specific antifungal used to treat yeast infections of the oral mucosa known as oral thrush.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The main active ingredient of this drug is nystatin with a dosage of 250000 IU. In addition, it contains various excipients such as carbomer 940, glycerol 85%, sodium hydroxide, thick paraffin, poloxamer, povidone, propylene glycol, purified water, cinnamaldehyde, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and sodium ions.

Application

The gel is used for use in the oral cavity.After meals, an amount of the gel the size of a hazelnut kernel should be distributed evenly in the mouth with your finger 3 to 5 times a day.Dentures should also be coated with the gel after cleaning.

Dosage and duration of use

The usual duration of use is usually 14 days.To prevent recurrence of infection, particularly in infants, treatment should be continued for several days beyond clinical resolution.If you are unsure about the dosage or the effect of the medicine, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive to nystatin, related substances such as natamycin or amphotericin B, or any of the other ingredients.Hypersensitivity to Balsam of Peru can also be a contraindication.

Side effects and overdose

In the event of an overdose, the well-known side effects of nystatin can occur.There are no known symptoms of poisoning.If you miss a dose, continue using it as prescribed without taking the missed dose.

Special Notes

If hypersensitivity occurs, such as itching or burning, the medication should be discontinued and a doctor consulted.To avoid relapses, all fungal lesions on the skin and mucous membranes must be eliminated.Apparent resistance can be overcome by more frequent use and higher doses.

Before using any medicines during pregnancy or breastfeeding you should ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.The active ingredient nystatin is considered harmless during these periods.
