Description

This medicine is an exfoliating and antibacterial gel intended for use on the skin.It is used for various forms of acne caused by hormonal changes during puberty.The preparation is often used on the chest and back and is particularly suitable for patients who do not respond adequately to lower doses of medication.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The gel contains 133.3 mg of hydrous benzoyl peroxide and 100 mg of benzoyl peroxide as active ingredients.Additionally, it contains various excipients such as carmellose sodium salt, microcrystalline cellulose, ethanol 96% (V/V), Laureth-4, macrogol 400, octadecan-1-ol, polyethylene glycol (7) stearyl ether, concentrated hydrochloric acid and purified water.

Application

Apply the gel thinly to the affected skin once or twice a day.If you have very sensitive skin, you should only use the medicine once a day at the start of treatment, preferably in the evening, or initially use a lower-dose preparation with 5% benzoyl peroxide.The dosage recommendations for children and adolescents correspond to those for adults.

Use the medicine until the inflammatory skin symptoms subside, which usually takes about 4 weeks.If you use more than intended, skin irritation may increase.In this case, you should reduce the frequency or amount of application, or wipe off the excess with a paper towel or wash it off with water.If accidentally swallowed, seek medical attention immediately.

If you forget to use it, do not use a double dose.Continue treatment with the usual amount the next time you use it.If you want to stop use or interrupt it for a longer period of time, discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to benzoyl peroxide or any of the other ingredients of the medicine.Avoid use on mucous membranes, in the mouth, nose and eyes area and on skin abrasions.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the medicine.The product must not get into the eyes as this can cause redness and burning.Rinse eyes thoroughly with water if this happens accidentally.The medicine can make the skin more sensitive to UV-light, which can lead to an increased risk of sunburn.Therefore, avoid intensive sun or solarium exposure of the treated areas of the body.

Be careful not to get the medicine on colored textiles as bleaching may occur.If you have dry or sebostatic skin or are prone to allergies, you should only use the medicine as directed by your doctor.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.The medicine should only be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding after consulting your doctor.The medicine should not be used in the last month of pregnancy.

Notes

No prescription is required for this product.The medicine is used if other medications do not improve the symptoms.Intensive UV-radiation (sunbathing, solariums) should be avoided while using the medication.If redness, itching, a feeling of tension, burning or drying of the skin lasts longer than 4-6 days, the application must be stopped or the amount reduced.
