CROM-OPHTAL Eye drops, 10 ml

Area of application

Crom-Ophtal® eye drops are a medicine for the treatment of allergic conjunctivitis.It is used for acute and chronic inflammation of the conjunctiva (conjunctivitis) that is triggered by allergies, such as hay fever conjunctivitis or spring catarrh ([Kerato-] vernal conjunctivitis).

The active ingredient in Crom-Ophtal® eye drops is sodium cromoglicate in a concentration of 20 mg/ml solution.The other ingredients include benzalkonium chloride, sodium edetate, polysorbate 80, sorbitol, sodium hydroxide solution (4%) for pH adjustment and water for injections.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if there is proven hypersensitivity to sodium cromoglicate or any of the other ingredients.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, use should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist.

Dosage

Adults and children should put 1 drop of Crom-Ophtal® in each eye 4 times daily.The daily dose can be increased up to 1 drop up to 8 times a day.Dosing intervals can be extended after therapeutic effect is achieved as long as freedom from symptoms is maintained.Treatment should be continued for as long as you are exposed to the allergenic substances.

Intake

Crom-Ophtal® eye drops are intended for use on the eyes.After instillation, there may be a short-term deterioration in visual acuity.Therefore, you should not work or drive without a secure footing for a few minutes after instillation.

Patient information

If your eyes are inflamed, you should ask your ophthalmologist whether it is still possible to wear contact lenses.Benzalkonium chloride can cause eye irritation and discoloration of soft contact lenses.Contact lenses must be removed before use and not reinserted until at least 15 minutes after use.

Pregnancy

Before using Crom-Ophtal® during pregnancy or breastfeeding, you should consult a doctor or pharmacist.The active ingredient is excreted in small quantities in breast milk, so its use in the first trimester of pregnancy should be avoided for safety reasons or only after a careful risk-benefit assessment.

Storage

Keep Crom-Ophtal® out of the reach of children.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and label.After opening, the eye drops must not be used for longer than 6 weeks.Never dispose of medicines via wastewater; instead, take them to the pharmacy for disposal.
