Area of application

Fenistil gel with the active ingredient dimetindene maleate is a remedy for the short-term relief of itching.It is used for small itchy insect bites on intact skin, for skin diseases such as chronic eczema and urticaria, as well as for first-degree burns and sunburn.The gel cools the skin pleasantly and quickly relieves itching.It is suitable for the whole family and is free of fragrances and dyes.

Mode of action

The active ingredient dimetindene maleate in Fenistil Gel blocks the effects of histamine, a substance released during allergic reactions.This relieves allergic reactions and itching, and reduces redness and swelling of the skin.The gel is quickly absorbed and develops its itch-relieving effect in just a few minutes.

1 g of Fenistil Gel contains 1 mg of dimetindene maleate as the active ingredient.The other ingredients are purified water, propylene glycol, carbomer 980, sodium hydroxide and methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (Ph.Eur.).

Contraindications

Fenistil Gel should not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients.It must not be used to treat a known insect venom allergy and should not be used over large areas or on injured or inflamed skin areas.The product should not be used in the first three months of pregnancy and should only be used sparingly during the rest of the pregnancy.During breastfeeding, the gel should not be applied on or near the nipples.

Dosage

Apply Fenistil Gel thinly to the affected skin areas up to 3 times a day and rub it in lightly.No prescription is required for this product.

Intake

Fenistil Gel is intended for use on the skin.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of the medicine is too strong or too weak.

Patient information

The treated skin areas should not be exposed to direct sunlight.There are no known effects on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

For fundamental medical reasons, the product should not be used in the first three months of pregnancy and should be used extremely sparingly thereafter.Breastfeeding women should not use the product on their nipples.Before taking/using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Notes

Bandages should not be applied to skin areas treated with Fenistil Gel.The treated skin areas must not be exposed to direct sunlight.Warning: Contains methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (Ph.Eur.) and propylene glycol.

Other

Any dressings that may be necessary must be permeable to air.With long-term, large-area local application under easier absorption conditions, signs of poisoning such as overdose cannot be ruled out.Be particularly careful with infants and children, as the effects are more pronounced here than in adults.
