Product characteristics: - Tegaderm 3M Alginate Compresses are sterile calcium alginate fibres used as a primary wound dressing for more heavily weeping, bedded or deeper ulcers. - The alginate forms a gelatinous layer with the wound exudate to trap germs and cellular debris and promote autolytic wound cleansing. - The dressings are soft, drapeable and have high absorbency and structural strength. - They do not stick to the wound and are easily removed in one piece. Indications: - Tegaderm Alginates can be used as a wound filler or primary dressing for ideal moist wound treatment, absorption and support of autolytic debridement in moderately to heavily exuding wounds. - However, they are not suitable for use on tendons, ligaments and bones. Application: 1. Place the dressing on the wound surface or in deep wounds. It can also be cut to the desired size. For drier wounds, the dressing can be moistened with Ringer's or saline solution. Cover the dressing with a secondary dressing. 2. Remove Tegaderm Alginate if necessary or after 7 days at the latest. It can be easily removed in one piece. Any residual fibres can be rinsed out or absorbed by the body. Dimensions: 10 x 20 cm (4 x 8 inch)
