Instructions for use for Hydrocortisone ratiopharm® 0.5% spray, 30 ml
Area of application
Hydrocortisone ratiopharm 0.5% spray helps with itchy and irritated skin caused by allergic or inflammatory reactions, mild eczema, insect bites or exposure to the sun.The spray reduces itching and skin irritation by reducing inflammation and soothing the skin. The active ingredient hydrocortisone is anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic.Due to its low potency, the spray is well tolerated.
The spray can be applied directly to the affected skin areas without the need to rub or wash your hands afterwards. It is particularly suitable for large, hard-to-reach or hairy areas of skin and is practical for on the go.It is usually used 2 to 3 times a day.Once the itching and irritation has improved, one application per day or every 2 to 3 days is sufficient. The spray should not be used for longer than 2 weeks without consulting a doctor. It is suitable for adults, teenagers and children aged 6 and over.
No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
1 ml Hydrocortisone ratiopharm 0.5% contains 5 mg hydrocortisone. The other ingredients are ethanol 96%, propylene glycol, glycerol 85%, hypromellose, sodium edetate (Ph.Eur.), sodium hydroxide, citric acid monohydrate and purified water.
Contraindications
The product should not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients. It is not suitable for specific skin symptoms such as syphilis, tuberculosis, viral infections (e.g. chickenpox, herpes simplex, herpes zoster), vaccination reactions, fungal infections (mycoses), bacterial skin infections, acne vulgaris and steroid acne, skin inflammation near the mouth (perioral dermatitis), inflammatory redness of the face (rosacea) and in children under 6 years of age.
Dosage
At the beginning of therapy, if the symptoms are severe, the use of Hydrocortisone ratiopharm 0.5% 2 to 3 times a day is recommended. If the clinical picture improves, one application per day or every 2 to 3 days is usually sufficient. For children aged 6 and over, external therapy should be carried out with restraint. The spray should normally not be used for longer than 2 weeks. The duration of treatment depends on the type, severity and course of the disease.
Do not apply the spray to an area larger than 1/10 of your body surface area for more than 1 week.Avoid large areas and/or long-term use of the drug.By using this alcohol-containing spray, the duration of use can be limited due to increasing drying out of the skin.If there are significant signs of drying out (e.g. flaking, tightness, itching), if the symptoms persist or if they worsen, you should consult a doctor.
Intake
The solution is intended for use on the skin and is sprayed onto the skin.
Patient information
Particular caution is required when using it on the face, especially around the eyes, on sore skin areas, especially in skin folds, around skin ulcers, in the genital and anal areas.Avoid large areas and/or long-term use of the drug. The spray is not suitable for people with dry skin or skin diseases associated with it.
The spray must not be used on children under 6 years of age.For children over the age of 6, external therapy with the spray should be carried out with restraint and usually not longer than 2 weeks.Particular caution is required with children because children have a larger body surface area in relation to their body weight.
Particular caution is required in older people because the barrier performance of the outer layer of skin (horny layer) is weaker in old age.
There are no known effects on the ability to drive or use machines.
Pregnancy
Before taking or using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.During pregnancy, the use of the drug should be avoided as much as possible and, if absolutely necessary, should be used for as short a time and as small an area as possible.Since growth disorders and damage to the unborn child cannot be ruled out during long-term treatment with glucocorticoids during pregnancy, please inform your doctor if you want to become pregnant, are already pregnant or think you may be pregnant.
