Aescuven® tablets

Aescuven® is a herbal medicine that is used for complaints related to chronic venous insufficiency.Typical symptoms include swollen legs, varicose veins, a feeling of heaviness and tension, itching, fatigue, pain in the legs and leg cramps.The product helps to normalize the wall permeability of the veins, prevents the leakage of fluid into the surrounding tissues and therefore the formation of edema.It relieves congestion, pain, cramps, the feeling of heaviness, tension and itching of the skin.

No prescription is required for this product.

Ingredients

The active ingredient in Aescuven® is horse chestnut seed dry extract.Each coated tablet contains 105.0 - 141.0 mg of this extract, which corresponds to 12.5 mg of triterpene glycosides, calculated as protoaescigenin.The extract is prepared with ethanol 50% (m/m).

The other ingredients include lactose monohydrate, cellulose powder, sucrose, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate (vegetable), methacrylic acid-methyl methacrylate copolymer (1:1), triethyl citrate, spray-dried glucose syrup, light basic magnesium carbonate, talc, spray-dried arabic gum, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 6000, povidone25, povidone 30, crospovidone type A, calcium carbonate (E 170), bleached wax, carnauba wax, shellac (bleached, wax-free), iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O (E 172), iron (III) oxide (E 172) and iron (II, III) oxide (E 172).

Area of application

Aescuven® is used to treat symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency.These can manifest themselves as swollen legs, varicose veins, a feeling of heaviness and tension, itching, fatigue, pain in the legs and leg cramps.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to horse chestnut seed dry extract or any of the other ingredients.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.Adults should take 2 coated tablets each morning and evening, which corresponds to 2 x 25 mg protoaescigenin.It is not intended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.There is no sufficient data to provide specific dosage recommendations for impaired kidney or liver function.

Application for at least 4 weeks may be necessary.If symptoms persist for longer than 4 weeks, you should consult a doctor.Longer-term treatment is possible in consultation with the doctor, as the medicine is suitable for long-term treatment and treatment success may only then occur.

If you have taken more than you should, please contact your doctor immediately.Do not take a double dose if you forget the previous one.The treatment can be stopped at any time without any adverse effects.

Intake

The coated tablets should be swallowed whole and with some liquid.In case of stomach or intestinal problems, it is recommended to take it with meals.

Patient information

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine if you notice redness or hardening of the skin in the subcutaneous area and veins, have severe pain in the legs, have or develop sores on your lower legs or feet, notice sudden swelling in one or both legs, or suddenly develop heart problems such as shortness of breath or chest pain or kidney pain.

Taking the medication does not replace other preventive treatment measures such as cold water or wearing medically prescribed support stockings.No studies have been conducted on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.There are no sufficient data for the use of horse chestnut seed dry extract in pregnant and breastfeeding women.It should therefore not be taken by pregnant or breastfeeding women.Data on reproductive capacity are not available.

Notes

Keep this medicine out of the reach and reach of children.You must not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the folding box or blister pack.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.Storage conditions: Do not store above 30°C.
