Instructions for use for NYDA® metal lice and nit comb, 1 piece
NYDA Metal lice and nit comb
The NYDA lice and nit comb with metal teeth is a special tool for diagnosing and treating head lice and nits.It is clinically tested and has particularly narrow and long metal teeth that are rounded at the ends to protect the scalp. The angled shape of the comb makes it easier to use.No prescription is required for this product.
Area of application
The lice and nit comb is suitable for combing out and identifying head lice, their larvae and nits.Examining the scalp hair with the specially developed comb is faster and more effective than a purely visual inspection. In addition, the lice comb makes it easier to remove dead lice and nits after treatment with NYDA®.The NYDA metal lice and nit comb has a small gap between the teeth and rounded ends so that the treatment is thorough and gentle on the scalp.
Dosage
Recommended use of NYDA metal lice and nit comb: Brush the hair carefully beforehand. Now take the NYDA lice and nit comb and hold it so that the angled handle points away from your head.Start combing at the crown and slowly pull the comb, strand by strand, up to the ends of the hair. The areas around the temples, ears and neck are particularly important, as head lice prefer to lay their eggs here. After each combing, check the comb for lice and nits and clean it carefully with a paper towel.
Information
If a kindergarten or school is affected by a head lice epidemic, it is advisable to also examine your own child. The NYDA lice and nit comb makes it easier to diagnose head lice as it can be easily checked for lice and nits after each combing. In the event of a head lice infestation, the dead head lice can also be easily combed out of the hair after treatment with a lice treatment.
Especially after a head lice infestation, it is often difficult to reliably detect a new infestation.Even after successful treatment, nits may still remain in the hair, but this does not necessarily mean that there is a repeat head lice infestation.Because the nits can also be from a previous infestation. They are then either empty or no longer infectious.Only those who have lice crawling on their heads need treatment. The NYDA lice and nit comb helps you diagnose head lice infestation. Thanks to its particularly close and long metal tines, lice, larvae and nits can be reliably detected.
The NYDA lice and nit comb can be prescribed by a doctor in conjunction with a lice treatment and reimbursed by health insurance companies for children up to 12 years of age. This also applies to young people up to the age of 18 if there is a developmental disability.
The suspicion of a head lice infestation is often raised by accidentally discovered nits. The NYDA lice and nit comb helps with a reliable diagnosis. Its closely spaced metal tines are ideal for combing out lice, larvae and nits.It also makes it easier to remove dead lice and nits after treatment with NYDA lice spray.
Lice can spread quickly wherever people come close together. In order to find out whether other family members are affected in the event of an infestation, we recommend thoroughly examining everyone living in the household with a special lice and nit comb.In addition, close contacts from the last 3 weeks should be informed if there is a head lice infestation.
Frequently asked questions & Answers
Is poor hygiene the reason for lice?Unfortunately, many people believe that lice are a sign of a lack of cleanliness. However, the lice don't care whether the hair is freshly washed or greasy. They spread through direct hair-to-hair contact. This happens regardless of the hygiene condition of the hair. However, the rumor means that those affected are ashamed of the fact that head lice have appeared in the family and do not report the infestation at all or report it too late. This allows the small parasites to spread even further. This means that the care facilities sometimes have to fight head lice for months.
Are metal combs the only effective combs against head lice? The decisive feature for the effectiveness of a lice comb is not primarily the material, but rather the shape and the close spacing of the teeth. When using a conventional comb to examine the hair or comb it out after treatment with a lice treatment, a reliable diagnosis cannot be made because its teeth are too far apart. In addition, even after a head lice infestation has been successfully treated, nits that are only the size of a grain of sand can still remain in the hair. However, this does not mean that there is a repeat infestation of lice, as they can also be from a previous infestation. They are then either empty or no longer infectious. The NYDA lice and nit comb has particularly narrow and long metal teeth that help you make a reliable diagnosis. Its angled shape also makes it easier to use.
Can head lice survive in clothing, bedding and towels? No.Head lice need blood to survive.Removed from the head, they have dried out very much within a few hours. These specimens no longer pose a risk of infection because they can no longer produce the saliva needed to suck blood. The eggs are laid close to the scalp because they need warmth and moisture. If they are found on the hair more than 1 cm from the scalp, they are either empty or dead.If you have a head lice infestation, it is still advisable to wash towels, bed linen and clothing worn at the usual temperatures.Brushes and combs should be checked for head lice after use and cleaned if necessary. No further hygiene measures are necessary.Research has shown that transmission of head lice via objects and surfaces is extremely unlikely.Pets are not affected by head lice and do not require treatment.
Lice or nit comb - what's the difference?
Both lice and nit combs are commercially available. But is there a difference between the two? With regard to the range of lice and nit combs, the name itself is not a sure indication of the properties of the comb. The terms “lice comb” and “nit comb” can therefore be misleading. The nit combs on offer do not necessarily have narrower tine spacing than lice combs. When choosing, you should therefore not base your choice on the name, but always on the distance between the tines. There are also metal combs with rounded teeth to prevent injuries to the scalp.Combs with a slightly slanted handle pointing away from the head make handling easier.
Application
Brush the hair carefully with a regular brush. It is helpful to repeatedly divide the hair into strands and part it.Hold the NYDA lice and nit comb in your hand so that the angled handle points away from your head.Since lice lay their eggs very close to the scalp, it makes sense to start right at the base. From there you should comb each strand down to the ends. Then check the comb for lice and nits and clean it carefully with a paper towel. In order to capture as many lice and nits as possible with the lice comb, the entire head hair is systematically processed.Moist hair is easier to comb with the fine-toothed comb than dry hair.
