Instructions for use of the article Gentian root tea: Gentian root tea is used as a herbal gastrointestinal remedy for loss of appetite and digestive complaints such as flatulence and bloating. The dosage is one cup of tea infusion 2 to 4 times a day before or after meals, prepared from a scant teaspoon of gentian root and boiling water. The duration of use is not limited, but medical advice should be sought in the case of acute complaints lasting more than a week or regularly recurring complaints. An overdose is not known. Side effects may include headaches. The tea should be kept away from moisture and in the dark. Gentian root is available in various commercial forms and is produced by Bombastus-Werke AG .
