Instructions for use for Lavanid 1 wound irrigation solution, 125 ml
Description
Lavanid 1 and Lavanid 2 are sterile, isotonic wound irrigation solutions based on Ringer's solution. These solutions contain 0.02% or 0.04% polyhexanide for preservation.Polyhexanide acts as an active ingredient that prevents the growth of microorganisms in wound dressings and in the solution.
Composition
The solutions consist of a Ringer solution, which is an isotonic electrolyte solution. This contains sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride 2 H2O and water for injections. In addition, macrogol and polyhexanide are contained in a concentration of 0.02% (Lavanide 1) and 0.04% (Lavanide 2), respectively.
Areas of application
Lavanid 1 and Lavanid 2 are used for local wound irrigation and cleaning. They are also suitable for moistening cloths, tamponades and bandages.
Contraindications
Lavanid must not be used in the following areas: throughout the CNS, including the meninges, in the area of cartilage and joints, in the middle or inner ear and intraperitoneally. In addition, Lavanid must not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to one of the ingredients. Its use is also not permitted during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Precautions for use and warnings
Only clear solutions should be used.Lavanid must not be mixed with additives and should not be resterilized as this may affect its usability. The stopper closure enables the rinsing solution to be removed aseptically, for example using a spike.Alternatively, the screw cap can be removed to pour out the solution.
Interactions with other agents
Due to incompatibility problems with the ingredient polyhexanide, Lavanid must not be used in combination with anionic substances, such as anionic surfactants or anionic gelling agents.Preoperative, superficial skin disinfection with PVP-iodine preparations and subsequent intraoperative rinsing with Lavanide is possible. However, direct contact of PVP-iodine preparations with Lavanide irrigation in the same wound area should be avoided.
Dosage instructions, type and duration of application
Lavanid 1 and Lavanid 2 are used for wound irrigation during surgical procedures as well as in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that require irrigation or moisturization.
