Description
Lavanid 1 are sterile, iso-osmotic wound irrigation solutions based on Ringer's solution DAB 7.These solutions contain 0.02% or 0.04% polyhexanide.Polyhexanide supports wound irrigation and treatment through its decontaminating and preservative properties.
Areas of application
Lavanid 1 wound irrigation solutions are used for local wound irrigation and cleaning.They are also suitable for moistening cloths, tamponades and bandages.
Contraindications
Lavanid 1 rinsing solutions must not be used in the following areas: in the entire area of the CNS, including the meninges, when rinsing the area of cartilage and joints, in the middle or inner ear and in the eyes, for intraperitoneal rinsing, in cases of known hypersensitivity to polyhexanide, in wounds that have been pre-treated with antiseptics or when using local antibiotics, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.There is currently no experience with its use in small children and infants.Lavanid 1 should therefore only be used if there is a compelling indication.
Precautions for use and warnings
The rinsing solution must not be used for injection or infusion and should not be mixed with additives.If aseptic conditions are maintained, the rinsing solution can be removed using a spike.The solution should be used within 4 weeks.Alternatively, the screw cap can be removed to pour out the solution.In this case, the solution should be used up in one operation.
Interactions with other agents
The combination of PVP-iodine preparations, such as preoperative skin disinfection, with intraoperative Lavanid 1 irrigation should be avoided.
Dosage instructions, type and duration of application
Lavanid 1 wound irrigation solution is used for wound irrigation during surgical procedures as well as in diagnostic and therapeutic measures that require irrigation or moisturization.The dosage depends on the requirements of the procedure and the duration of use is limited to the respective procedure.
Notes and information on shelf life
Lavanid 1 should be stored at room temperature (15 - 25°C).After the expiry date, the solution must no longer be used.The solution should not be resterilized.Use only clear solutions and undamaged containers.
