Description

This preparation is a thyroid drug that is used to prevent and treat iodine deficiency and to treat goiter (diffuse euthyroid goiter) in various age groups.It helps prevent iodine deficiency, especially in areas with low iodine levels or after removal of an iodine-deficient goiter.It is also used to treat goiter in newborns, children, adolescents and younger adults.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The preparation contains 131 µg potassium iodide and 100 µg iodide ion as active ingredients.The following excipients are also included: microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, hypromellose, slightly basic magnesium carbonate, sodium cyclamate and hydrogenated castor oil.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to potassium iodide or any of the other ingredients.The product should also not be used if you have manifest or latent hyperthyroidism.In the case of benign, hormone-producing tumors or uncontrolled hormone-producing areas of the thyroid, taking it in certain dosages is also not suitable, except for preoperative treatment.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.If you are unsure, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.The usual dose varies depending on the area of application and age group.To prevent goiter due to iodine deficiency, infants and children take half to one tablet daily, and adolescents and adults take one to two tablets daily.Pregnant and breastfeeding women should take two tablets daily.To prevent re-growth of goiter after treatment or surgery, one to two tablets daily are sufficient.To treat iodine deficiency goiter, newborns, children and adolescents take one to two tablets daily, younger adults take three to five tablets daily.The preventative administration often has to be given over years or for life.The duration of use is determined by the doctor.

Intake
