Gelum drops is a medical product for supportive therapy in liver diseases such as chronic liver cirrhosis with minimal hepatic encephalopathy. The drops contain a potassium iron (III) phosphate citrate complex that binds the digestive toxin ammonia in the intestine and thus relieves the liver. The dosage recommendation for adults is to take 2 ml undiluted 3 times a day before meals. After ingestion, rinse with a little liquid. Mild gastrointestinal discomfort may occur and in rare cases dark discolouration of the stools, teeth or tongue may occur. The product should not be used in case of known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. If an overdose is suspected, a doctor should be contacted. Gelum drops do not contain alcohol and do not interact with other medicines. The shelf life should be observed and the product should be stored at room temperature.
