Kalium Verla Granulat is a mineral preparation used for potassium replacement in cases of deficiency (hypokalaemia). It is mainly used in cases of metabolic acidosis, neuromuscular disorders, cardiac arrhythmias and potassium depletion during treatment with digitalis. The granules are used to prepare an oral solution and should be taken during or after meals. The dosage depends on the individual deficiency and exceeding the recommended dose should be avoided. Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, heartburn, flatulence, abdominal pain and diarrhoea. The medicine must not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to the active substance or an increased concentration of potassium in the blood. Pregnant and breastfeeding women can usually use the medicine safely. However, it should be noted that the granules contain sucrose (sugar). It should be stored out of the reach of children and the expiry date should be observed.
