Description of the herbal medicine

This herbal medicine is used for mild, temporary depressive disorders.It helps relieve depressive moods.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The preparation contains 300 mg St. John's wort dry extract, made with 80% methanol as an extractant.The following excipients are also included: ascorbic acid, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium salt, iron(III)hydroxide oxide-x-water, hypromellose, lactose-1-water, macrogol 4000, magnesium stearate, pre-gelatinized corn starch, methylcellulose, sodium saccharin, precipitated silicon dioxide, simeticone, talc, titanium dioxide, vanillin, sorbic acid and0.004 BE carbohydrates.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken in the case of severe, temporary depressive disorders, as there is no sufficient data on this.It is also not allowed to be taken during pregnancy.The preparation must not be used together with certain classes of drugs whose breakdown and excretion involve specific liver enzymes or a specific drug transport system.These include, among others, anti-HIV-drugs, protease inhibitors for the treatment of hepatitis C infections, immunosuppressants, cell growth-inhibiting drugs in cancer treatment and anticoagulant drugs of the coumarin type.In addition, the medicine must not be taken together with other antidepressants.It should not be used if the skin is hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients or if the skin is known to be hypersensitive to light.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as directed.Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose for adults aged 18 and over is one film-coated tablet three times a day, corresponding to 900 mg of St. John's wort extract per day.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.Experience has shown that it takes 4 to 6 weeks to take the medication for a significant improvement in symptoms.If the symptoms of the disease persist for more than 4 weeks or worsen despite taking the prescribed dosage, you should consult a doctor again.

Overdose symptoms caused by preparations containing St. John's wort extract have not yet been reported.The side effects listed below may occur more frequently.After taking massive overdoses, the skin should be protected from sunlight and UV-radiation for a week due to possible increased sensitivity to light.If you forget to take the medicine, do not take double the amount next time, but continue taking it as prescribed or described.

Intake

The film-coated tablets are intended to be taken orally.Please take the film-coated tablets whole with sufficient liquid, preferably a glass of drinking water.Film-coated tablets should not be taken while lying down.It should be taken morning, afternoon and evening, preferably with meals.

Patient information

Particular caution is required when taking the drug, as medicines containing St. John's wort can influence the metabolism of other medicines taken at the same time.This may result in a reduced and/or shortened effect of these medicines, so dosage adjustment may be necessary.The use of the drug in children and adolescents up to 18 years of age is not recommended as there are insufficient data on this.While using the drug, you should avoid intense UV-radiation.If you use hormonal contraceptives and take this medicine at the same time, breakthrough bleeding may occur and the safety of contraception may be reduced.You should therefore take additional contraceptive measures.There are no sufficient studies on the effect on the ability to drive and operate machines.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

The preparation must not be taken during pregnancy due to insufficient examinations.Animal studies show equivocal results and the potential risk to humans is unknown.Women of childbearing potential must use effective contraception during and for at least two weeks after treatment.Breastfeeding women should not take the medicine as there are no sufficient studies.
