3M Tegaderm Alginate is a highly absorbent compress or tamponade consisting of sterile calcium alginate fibers.It is used as a primary wound dressing for heavily weeping, covered or deeper ulcers.The alginate, together with the wound exudate, forms a gelatinous layer that traps germs and cell debris and promotes autolytic wound cleaning.

The compress is soft and drapeable.It combines high absorption capacity with high structural strength.In addition, it does not stick to the wound and can be easily removed in one piece.

Indications

3M Tegaderm Alginate is used as a wound filler or primary wound dressing for ideally moist wound treatment, absorption and support of autolytic debridement in all moderately to heavily exuding wounds.It is not suitable for application to tendons, ligaments and bones.

Application

Place the compress on the wound surface or in deep wounds.3M Tegaderm Alginate can also be cut to size.For rather dry wounds, you can moisten the bandage with Ringer's or saline solution.Cover the compress with a secondary dressing.

Remove Tegaderm Alginate if necessary or after 7 days at the latest.It can be removed in one piece.Any remaining fibers can be flushed out of the wound or easily absorbed by the body.
