Area of application

This sterile gel has both a local anesthetic and disinfectant effect.It is used for instillation and is suitable for mucous membrane disinfection and local anesthesia during various medical procedures.This includes catheterizations, probing, intraoperative procedures, all types of endoscopies, changing fistula catheters, intubations and ventilation.The gel helps prevent iatrogenic injuries to the rectum and colon.It is suitable for adults and children aged 2 and over.

Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients

The gel contains the following active ingredients: 0.523 mg chlorhexidine digluconate, 0.294 mg chlorhexidine, 20.9 mg lidocaine hydrochloride 1-water, 16.96 mg lidocaine, 19.6 mg lidocaine hydrochloride, 0.627 mg methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and 0.262 mg propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate.Hyetellose, sodium hydroxide, 522.5 mg propylene glycol and purified water are included as excipients.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to lidocaine hydrochloride 1 H2O, chlorhexidine bis (D-gluconate) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.Use is also contraindicated in cases of known hypersensitivity to lidocaine and other local anesthetics of the amide type, in cases of significant conduction system disorders and in children under 2 years of age.

Dosage

Unless otherwise prescribed, the gel is used as follows: When catheterizing, 6 ml or 11 ml are instilled.After cleaning the glans and the external urethra, the gel is slowly introduced into the urethra and the glans is compressed until the effect begins.During cystoscopy and endoscopies, 11 ml, possibly an additional 6 ml or 11 ml, are instilled to cover the urethra with a lubricating film and to anesthetize.A penis clamp is placed in the area of the coronary sulcus.For urethral strictures, 11 ml, possibly an additional 6 ml or 11 ml, are instilled and a penis clamp is applied.Anesthesia occurs after 5 to 10 minutes.For disinfection, 6 ml or 11 ml of gel is distributed evenly on the mucous membrane.For other applications, 6 ml or 11 ml are slowly instilled into the respective body opening and/or the gel is distributed onto the catheter or instrument to be inserted.

No prescription is required for this product.Always use the medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.In children between 2 and 12 years of age, the maximum dose of 2.9 mg lidocaine hydrochloride per kg body weight should not be exceeded, which corresponds to approximately 1.5 ml gel per 10 kg body weight.

Intake

The application is as described under dosage.The full effect occurs after 5 to 10 minutes.

Patient information

The gel must not come into contact with the eyes as this can cause damage to vision.If you come into contact with your eyes, rinse them thoroughly with water immediately.If you experience irritation, redness or pain in the eye or have vision problems, medical advice should be sought immediately.Please talk to your doctor before using the gel.In the case of surgical or large-scale use, the doctor must decide on a case-by-case basis whether you are allowed to actively participate in road traffic or operate machines.

Pregnancy

Lidocaine should only be used in the first three months of pregnancy if absolutely necessary.It is not known whether lidocaine is excreted in human milk, so breast-feeding should not be performed for up to approximately 12 hours after administration.

This gel is very suitable for inserting a catheter, and after about 10 minutes the insertion is noticeably better due to the light anaesthetic .
