Instructions for use for the article Instillagel
Instillagel is a sterile gel for instillation that is used both for mucous membrane disinfection and for local anesthesia.It is suitable for various medical applications such as catheterization, probing, intraoperative procedures, endoscopies, fistula catheter replacement, intubation and ventilation.It also helps prevent iatrogenic injuries to the rectum and colon.Instillagel is suitable for use in adults and children aged 2 years and over.

Active ingredients and ingredients
Instillagel contains the following active ingredients: lidocaine hydrochloride 1 H2O, chlorhexidine digluconate, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate.The other ingredients are hyetellose, propylene glycol, sodium hydroxide and purified water.
Application and dosage
Instillagel is used depending on medical needs.During a catheterization, 6 ml or 11 ml of the gel is instilled.For cystoscopies and endoscopies, 11 ml can be used, possibly supplemented by an additional 6 ml or 11 ml. For urethral strictures, 11 ml is also instilled and a penis clamp is applied.For disinfection, 6 ml or 11 ml of gel is distributed evenly on the mucous membrane.For other applications, the gel is slowly instilled into the respective body opening or distributed onto the catheter or instrument to be inserted.
It is important to always use the medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.In children, the maximum dose of 2.9 mg lidocaine hydrochloride per kg body weight should not be exceeded.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Instillagel can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.Possible side effects include allergic reactions, including anaphylactic shock, hypotension, bradycardia, or convulsions.Very rarely, allergic reactions to the active ingredients or other ingredients can occur.
Storage and disposal
Instillagel should be kept out of the reach of children and must not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.After opening a single syringe, the gel should be used immediately and the rest discarded.Medicines should not be disposed of in wastewater or household waste.Ask your pharmacist how to properly dispose of the medicine.
