Description of the product

Ichthoderm 2% cream is a medicine for use on the skin.The active ingredient, sodium bituminosulfonate, comes from the group of sulfonated shale oils.This product is used to treat various skin conditions of the scalp, including seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff, psoriasis, eczema, pruritus and folliculitis.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The cream contains 20 mg of sodium bituminosulfonate, light as an active ingredient.Excipients include (RS)-2-octyldodecan-1-ol, poloxamer 407, butylhydroxytoluene, propylene glycol and purified water.

Area of application

Ichthoderm cream is used to relieve seborrheic eczema of the scalp, which is characterized by greasy scaling.It helps in the treatment of pathological overproduction of sebaceous glands, dandruff, psoriasis, eczema, skin itching and inflammation of the hair follicles in the area of the hairy head.

Contraindications

The preparation must not be used if you are allergic to sodium bituminosulfonate, light or other sulfonated shale oils or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described or exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you.Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.The cream should be used several times in the first two weeks.As the disease progresses, a once-weekly application is usually sufficient.The frequency of use depends on the clinical picture and the recurrence of dandruff and itching.The duration of application depends on the success of the treatment.

If you have used more than you should, wash out the excess cream with water and possibly shampoo and reapply the correct dose.

If you forget to use, do not use a double dose if you forget the previous application.

If you stop using it, please discuss further action with your doctor, as the success of the treatment is at risk.

Application

To be applied to the scalp.Moisten your hair and scalp well with water.For each scalp area, apply a 2 to 3 centimeter long strand directly to the affected scalp using the applicator and massage in lightly with your fingertips.Allow the preparation to take effect for at least 2 - 3 minutes.Direct contact of the cream with the eyes should be avoided.Rinse hair and scalp thoroughly with warm water.Apply the product again to the scalp areas and massage in.The exposure time should be at least 5 minutes.If necessary, the exposure time can be extended to several hours.If instructed by your doctor, the cream can also be applied once and left to work overnight.Then wash your head with a commercially available shampoo and rinse thoroughly again with warm water.

Patient information

Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the cream.Do not use directly in the eye.The cream has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

In the usual dosages for therapy, there is no information about risks when using it.Application should only be carried out after a strict benefit-risk assessment.

Notes

Avoid contact with eyes or open wounds.The simultaneous additional use of other scalp treatment products may affect the effectiveness of the drug.Sodium bituminosulfonate can increase the absorption of other active ingredients into the skin.Adding more highly concentrated acids and salts can lead to precipitation.
