Calendula Salbe Heel S is a homeopathic medicine for the treatment of skin diseases. It is used for skin ulcerations, poorly healing wounds, bruises, lacerations and defect wounds as well as burns and frostbite of the skin. The ointment contains the active ingredient Calendula officinalis. There are some contraindications to be noted. The medicinal product must not be used in cases of known allergy to calendula or other composite flowers, the active substance or any of the other ingredients of the medicinal product. In children under 12 years of age, the medicinal product should only be used after consultation with the doctor. The ointment should be applied thinly and massaged in gently. Contact with eyes, mucous membranes and deep open wounds should be avoided. Hands should be thoroughly cleaned after application. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, the medicinal product should only be used after consulting a doctor. Side effects may occur, such as allergic skin reactions (redness, swelling, itching). In this case, the medicine should be discontinued. In case of severe inflammation of the skin, fever, persistent unclear or newly appearing complaints, a doctor should be consulted. Extensive burns always require medical treatment. It is known that the effect of a homeopathic remedy can be influenced by harmful factors in the way of life (e.g. nicotine, alcohol, coffee) can be unfavourably influenced. When using homeopathic medicines, a temporary aggravation of the symptoms may occur (initial worsening). The medicinal product contains 1.170 g alcohol in 10 g ointment. This may cause a burning sensation on damaged skin. It is important to read the package leaflet and consult a doctor or pharmacist if side effects occur.
