Pollstimol® - The herbal therapy for prostate diseases

Pollstimol® is a herbal medicine that is used to relieve symptoms of chronic abacterial prostatitis and benign prostate enlargement (benign prostatic hyperplasia, BPH).This preparation is available without a prescription.

Prostatitis is an inflammation of the prostate and is one of the most common men-specific diseases.The symptoms can be similar in different forms and can have a severe impact on the quality of life.Common complaints include problems with urination, such as a weak urinary stream, feeling of residual urine, urinary blockage or frequent and nocturnal urination.Pain in the perineal area, genitals or lower abdomen as well as sexual problems and even blood in the urine (hematuria) can also occur.

There are different types of prostatitis.While acute and chronic bacterial prostatitis can be treated well with antibiotics, this is not the case with chronic abacterial prostatitis, also known as chronic pelvic pain syndrome.This form is the most common, accounting for 90% of all cases, but is generally associated with less severe symptoms than acute prostatitis.The causes are not fully understood, but psychological stress such as stress plays an important role.It is therefore important to take your living situation into account in addition to medication.

Area of application

Pollstimol® is used for micturition problems in connection with benign prostate enlargement (BPH) in stages I-II according to Alken or II-III according to Vahlensieck.It is also approved for the treatment of chronic abacterial prostatitis.

It is important to note that this medication relieves the discomfort of an enlarged prostate without correcting the enlargement itself.Therefore, medical check-ups should take place regularly.A doctor should be consulted immediately, especially if there is blood in the urine or acute urinary retention.

Mode of action

Pollstimol® hard capsules contain grass pollen extracts from rye, timothy grass and corn.This herbal medicine is the only phytotherapeutic approved in Germany for the treatment of chronic nonbacterial prostatitis.It inhibits inflammation in the prostate, reduces pain, alleviates symptoms and improves quality of life.In the case of benign prostate enlargement, it also helps to relieve micturition problems.

Each hard capsule contains 23 mg of a grass pollen extract mixture of rye, timothy grass and corn in a ratio of 30:1.5:1.The preparation also contains the following excipients: calcium D-gluconate 1-water, calcium hydrogen phosphate 2-water, microcrystalline cellulose, iron (III) hydroxide oxide x-water, gelatin, glucose solution, 108 mg glucose, 0.009 BE carbohydrates, lactose 1-water, magnesium stearate, sodium dodecyl sulfate, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, titaniumdioxide and purified water.

Contraindications

Pollstimol® must not be taken if there is hypersensitivity (allergy) to grass pollen or any of the other ingredients of the drug.

Dosage

Always take Pollstimol® exactly as directed.If you are unsure, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.

The usual dose is 2 hard capsules 2 to 3 times a day, which corresponds to a daily dose of 4 to 6 hard capsules.The duration of use is not limited and should be at least 3 months.

If you have taken more than you should, please contact a doctor.If you forget to take the dose, do not take a double dose next time, but continue with your regular dose.

Intake

Take the capsules whole with sufficient liquid, preferably a glass of drinking water, with meals.It is recommended not to take medicines lying down.

Patient information

Since Pollstimol® does not resolve the enlargement of the prostate, medical check-ups should take place at regular intervals.A doctor should be consulted immediately, especially if there is blood in the urine or acute urinary retention.

The medicine has no known effects on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

Pollstimol® is not approved for use in women, especially pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Notes

Contains milk sugar (lactose).Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pack.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
