The medicinal product L-Carn drinking solution contains the active substance levocarnitine and is used to treat carnitine deficiency disorders. It compensates for levocarnitine losses that may be caused by defects of the carnitine transporter in the cell membrane or by various diseases and types of treatment. It is also used for levocarnitine losses due to long-term treatment by blood washing in patients with kidney failure. In addition, it is used as a treatment trial for certain forms of muscle wasting with muscle fatty degeneration. The medicinal product is taken in the form of a drinking solution. The recommended dosage for adults is 10 ml solution 3 times a day. The duration of use is determined individually by the doctor. The medicine is generally well tolerated, but may rarely cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. There are no known interactions with other medicines. L-Carn drinking solution must not be taken if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. There is no evidence of any harmful effect during pregnancy and breast-feeding, but you should consult your doctor before use. The medicine should be stored away from heat.
