Orlistat-ratiopharm 60 mg hard capsules are used for weight reduction in overweight adults aged 18 years and over with a BMI of 28 or higher. The capsules contain the active substance orlistat, which inhibits fat digestion and reduces calorie intake. They should be taken together with a fat- and calorie-reduced diet. Undigested fat is excreted in the stool. The general dosage is one capsule 3 times a day with meals containing fat. The medicine should not be used for longer than 6 months. Possible side effects are gastrointestinal complaints such as abdominal pain, soft stools and faecal incontinence. Orlistat-ratiopharm 60 mg hard capsules are well tolerated and allow easy dosing.
