Ultracarbon® granules for oral suspension
The medical carbon in Ultracarbon® binds non-specifically dissolved particles such as toxins or bacteria.The structure of medicinal charcoal has many pores that form a large surface area.For example, this surface binds toxins, which can then be more easily excreted from the body.Ultracarbon® is used for acute oral poisoning and drug overdose.
No prescription is required for this product.In the event of acute oral poisoning or drug overdose, you should contact a doctor or poison control center immediately.The Ultracarbon® suspension should then be administered according to their instructions.
Area of application
The active ingredient medicinal charcoal can bind harmful or undesirable substances in the gastrointestinal tract.Ultracarbon® is used for acute oral poisoning and drug overdose.

A bottle with 61.5 g of granules contains 50 g of medicinal charcoal as the active ingredient.The other ingredients are citric acid monohydrate, glycerol and gum arabic.
Contraindications
Ultracarbon® must not be taken if you are allergic to medicinal charcoal or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.The medicine should also not be used in the event of poisoning by irritating substances such as strong acids or bases, as it can interfere with diagnostic examinations.
Dosage
Adults and young people aged 12 and over should take the contents of 1 to 2 bottles as soon as possible in the event of acute poisoning or overdose.For serious poisoning, a dose of 20 g every 4 to 6 hours can be taken or administered for a few days after the first treatment.Children between 4 and 12 years old should receive half a bottle, while children under 4 years old should receive a quarter bottle as a first dose.The suspension is taken or administered orally.For repeated administration, the bottle should be shaken vigorously before use.
Medicinal charcoal is more effective the sooner it is taken after the poison has been absorbed.Start taking immediately after becoming aware of the poisoning and follow the instructions of the poison control center or emergency doctor.In the event of serious poisoning, repeated use is recommended.The medicine can also be used after vomiting or after gastric lavage.
If you notice that the medicine is too strong or too weak, contact your doctor or pharmacist.An overdose may cause stomach pain and serious intestinal obstruction.If you forget to take it, take it as soon as possible.Do not take a double dose if you forget to take the previous dose.
Intake
The suspension is taken or administered orally.For repeated administration, the bottle should be shaken vigorously before use.The product should not be administered orally to unconscious patients who cannot safely swallow the product.In patients with impaired consciousness, a doctor or nurse should administer the suspension through a nasogastric tube under medical supervision.
To prepare the suspension, you should shake the bottle well to loosen the granules.Open the bottle and carefully add water to the granules up to the red line on the bottle.Close the bottle again and shake vigorously for about 1 minute.Open the bottle carefully and take the suspension immediately.If you take it repeatedly, you should shake the bottle vigorously again before use.
Patient information
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medicine.Ultracarbon® can be used for many types of poisoning.However, some organic and inorganic salts and solvents cannot be sufficiently adsorbed by medicinal charcoal.For these substances, other measures are required to remove toxins.
The main poisons for which there are suitable antidotes are cyanide, iron compounds, lithium, methanol, alcohol and antifreeze.In many cases of poisoning, a specific antidote must be given in addition to this preparation.The medicine causes the stool to turn black.
The medicine has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.As far as is known, the medicine can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding without endangering the fetus or child if used as directed.
Notes
Keep medicines out of the reach of children.The effects of medicines taken orally are generally reduced by the use of medicinal charcoal.Simultaneous administration of furosemide and medicinal charcoal showed a strong reduction in furosemide effect.In addition, taking medicinal charcoal can also reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives.An additional safe method of contraception is therefore advisable.If you are taking medications that inhibit bowel function, the use of medicinal charcoal is not advisable.
Please do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack or outer packaging.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
