Vagi-C is a vaginal therapeutic agent used to treat chronic or recurrent amine colpitis (bacterial vaginosis, non-specific colpitis) of mild to moderate severity. It normalises the disturbed vaginal flora. The usual dosage is one vaginal tablet per day, preferably inserted deep into the vagina in the evening. In the case of severe disorders of the vaginal flora, prolonged use over weeks may be recommended. The effect of Vagi-C may be influenced by discolouration of the linen, depending on the underlying disease and the textile materials. No side effects are known in the event of an overdose. If the application has been forgotten, it should be made up as soon as possible. Premature discontinuation of the treatment may jeopardise the success of the treatment. Vagi-C should be stored in a cool, dry place, out of the reach of children. The vaginal tablets contain 250 mg ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and other ingredients such as lactose monohydrate, hypromellose and magnesium stearate. Vagi-C has a germicidal effect and inhibits the growth and multiplication of bacteria by lowering the pH of the vagina. Vaginal tablets should not be used if they are dark brown in colour. Vagi-C is available over the counter and remains limited to a maximum of 15 packs per quarter for certain medicines with an increased potential for overdose.
