Instructions for use for ZIRKULIN Indian psyllium, 300 g
Directions for use: Zirkulin Indian psyllium seeds are a herbal laxative with swelling agents. They are used to treat constipation and to form soft stools. This may be necessary, for example, in the case of tears in the anal mucosa, haemorrhoids, after surgical interventions in the anal region and during pregnancy. They can also be used for diarrhoea of various causes and for supportive therapy in irritable bowel syndrome. The recommended dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age is 1 teaspoonful (approx. 5 g) of Indian psyllium seeds several times a day after pre-swelling in a little water (approx. 100 ml). Children between 6 and 12 years of age take half the dose. The psyllium seeds are mixed in a glass of cold water and the prepared liquid is taken. Sufficient liquid should be drunk during and after the intake. The effect sets in about 12-24 hours after ingestion. It is important to keep a distance of half an hour to one hour after taking other medicines. The duration of use is not limited. However, a doctor should be consulted if symptoms persist or if diarrhoea lasts longer than 2 days or is accompanied by blood inclusions or an increase in temperature. If you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Indian psyllium seeds should be kept out of the reach of children. They should not be used after the expiry date and should be used within 6 months after opening the sachet. The psyllium seeds should be stored in the original package away from light and moisture. There are some contraindications to the use of Indian psyllium. These include hypersensitivity to the ingredients, constrictions in the digestive tract, intestinal obstruction, difficult-to-control diabetes mellitus and children under 12 years of age. According to current knowledge, psyllium seeds can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but should be discussed with a doctor if in doubt. So far, only a few side effects have been observed with the use of Indian psyllium. If any undesirable changes occur during treatment, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist. The ingredients of psyllium seeds consist of a natural mixture that mainly contains mucilage. Psyllium seeds can increase the volume of intestinal contents and stimulate the movement of the bowels. In addition, the seed coats can bind excess water in the stool and solidify it. It should be noted that psyllium seeds can cause allergies. Psyllium seeds should be stored away from moisture and in the dark. After opening the sachet, they should be used within 6 months. The commercial form of Zirkulin Indian psyllium consists of 100 g of psyllium. Source: Package insert, as of 11/2019.Medicines Reviews
