Rose water has been known since ancient times for its soothing properties on irritated skin.It can be used in many ways, both as a smoothing and moisturizing skin care product as well as for perfuming clothing and fabrics.Rose water, also called rose hydrolate, is mainly grown in Bulgaria, Morocco and Turkey and is also picked there for further processing.It is free of essential oils, contains water-soluble substances and smells intensely of rose.

Properties

Rose water from controlled organic cultivation has many positive properties.It can be used for every skin type and provides the skin with sufficient moisture, supports a balanced pH value and has a toning effect.As an alcohol-free facial toner, it is mild and moisturizing.It develops relaxing and soothing properties on the skin and cleanses it deep into the pores in a gentle and tolerable way.It also has slight antiseptic properties and is suitable for impure and stressed skin.Stored in the refrigerator, it has a skin-tightening and refreshing effect, especially in summer.

Extraction

Rose oil is mainly made from rose petals using the distillation process.One liter of rose oil requires approximately four tons of rose petals, which makes production expensive.Rose water is a byproduct of distillation.Rose water and rose oil are separated from each other using steam distillation.This process is particularly gentle and does not use any harmful substances such as solvents.The plant water created by distillation is also called hydrosol, hence the name rose hydrosol.

Possible applications

As a facial toner: The face should first be cleansed with a cleansing fluid or a gentle soap.The rose water is then dripped onto a cotton pad and the face is gently moistened with it.The rose water is quickly absorbed into the skin.Cream, balms or oils can then be massaged in, depending on your skin type.

To fix make-up: After applying make-up, the face can be moistened with rose water (like facial toner) to achieve long-lasting and radiant make-up.

As an eye fluid: When chilled, rose water is particularly suitable for gentle, decongestant eye care.
