Areas of application

ibutop® pain cream is a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory medicine that can be rubbed into the skin.It can be used for rheumatic joint pain, back pain and osteoarthritis.The cream can also help with inflammatory rheumatic diseases of the joints and spine, osteoarthritis, joint and muscle pain, swelling and inflammation of soft tissues near the joints such as bursa, tendons, tendon sheaths, ligaments and joint capsules, as well as with back pain, lumbago or frozen shoulder.ibutop® pain cream is available in 50 g, 100 g and 150 g tubes.

Mode of action

Chronic pain caused by joint diseases is not uncommon, especially in old age.The hip or knee joints are often affected, but osteoarthritis and rheumatism can extend to many joints.Muscular rheumatism, swelling and inflammation of the soft tissues near the joints, such as joint capsulitis or tendonitis, are also very unpleasant and painful.To relieve the pain in such cases, ibutop® pain cream can be used.It ensures sustained penetration of the skin, allowing the active ingredient ibuprofen to take effect specifically at the site of pain.The active ingredient ibuprofen provides long-lasting relief on the spot when applied several times a day.

Active ingredient and ingredients

ibutop® pain cream contains the active ingredient ibuprofen.Ingredients include glycerol monostearate, methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, sodium salt, polyoxyethylene (100) monostearate, polyoxyethylene (1500) monostearate, propylene glycol, triglycerides, medium chain, water, purified and xanthan gum.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to the active ingredient ibuprofen, the preservative methyl (4-hydroxybenzoate), sodium salt, propylene glycol, the other ingredients of the medicine or to other painkillers and rheumatism medicines.The cream must also not be applied to open injuries, inflammations or infections of the skin, as well as to eczema or mucous membranes.Its use is also not permitted in the last trimester of pregnancy.

Dosage and application

ibutop® pain cream is used 3 to 4 times daily.The maximum total daily dose is 20 g of cream corresponding to 1000 mg of ibuprofen.The cream is applied to the skin at the affected area of pain and rubbed lightly into the skin.The treating doctor decides on the duration of the treatment.As a rule, one application over 2 - 3 weeks is sufficient.The therapeutic benefit of use beyond this period has not been proven.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of ibutop® pain cream is too strong or too weak.

Special Notes

If there are severe bruises and sprains, it may be helpful to use an airtight bandage at the start of treatment.Increased penetration of the active ingredient through the skin can be achieved by using iontophoresis (a special form of electrotherapy).ibutop® pain cream must be applied under the cathode (negative pole).The current strength should be 0.1 - 0.5 mA per 5 cm² of electrode surface, the application time should be approx. 10 minutes.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, you should only take medication after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.In the last trimester of pregnancy, the cream must not be used over a longer period of time or on larger areas of skin, as this can inhibit contractions and increase the tendency to bleed.Although there is currently no evidence of teratogenic effects, the cream should not be used over a long period of time in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy.The cream should not be used during breastfeeding.
